  1. Welcome to ViewIt - one of the best tools for
  2. creating and managing sophisticated Mac windows.
  3.  
  4. The ViewIt demo program, vDemo, contains the ViewIt
  5. documentation plus info about other FaceWare modules.
  6. The "Projects" folder contains several versions of the
  7. vDemo program corresponding to different languages
  8. and compilers.  THINK C (LC) (source-compatible with
  9. Symantec C++), THINK Pascal (LP), Language Systems
  10. Fortran (LF), and Absoft MacFortran II (AF) source files
  11. are provided, but you don't need a compiler to run the
  12. vDemo program, and the THINK files can be converted
  13. for use with MPW (as described in "Compiler Notes").

  15. Choose one of the vDemo programs to work with, and
  16. then take the following steps before running vDemo:

  18. 1. Move the "vDemo.Rsrc" resource file from the folder
  19. named "Resources" to the folder containing the vDemo
  20. program you have chosen to run. This resource file has
  21. resources that are required by all versions of vDemo.
  22. (If this file is not found, vDemo quits back to Finder.)
  23.  
  24. 2. Move the "FaceWare" file to your System folder so
  25. that the modules within it can be found by all of
  26. the demo programs that you run.

  28. IMPORTANT NOTE:  The large size of the FaceWare file is
  29. due to the presence of on-line help and editing code that
  30. is NOT needed in finished applications.  Stand-alone
  31. applications created with ViewIt are NOT significantly
  32. larger than applications created with competing tools.

  34. Now run the vDemo program and read the on-line help for
  35. more information about ViewIt and other FaceWare modules.
